The Artists' Guild is an auxiliary of the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The "Guild", as it is known, is an organization of artists and supporters of the arts. While the original Guild dates back to the 1950s, its current organizational format was set in 1984. The Guild currently has over 450 members, divided between Associate Members and Signature Members.
Associate Members are either artists or art lovers. This is the initial level of Guild membership to which all new members are assigned. Associate Members may participate in 'Open' juried exhibitions (Coral Springs Museum show, Couryard shows, Boca High School shows and the monthly Mizner Park Art Walk events). They are also welcome to serve on committee and on the Guild Board. Please see the section on "How to Join" to become a member of the Guild. You must be a member of the Museum to join the Guild.
When new members join the Guild, they receive a Welcome Package. If the new member has provided an e-mail address, the Welcome Package information can be e-mailed (the fastest way to receive this information). Those who only provide a home address will receive their information by snail mail. This Welcome Package contains detailed information about the Guild and the different membership levels. We also host periodic New Member Teas to more personally introduce new members to the Guild and to the Guild Board.
After being an Associate Member for three months, and hopefully having had the opportunity to participate in some of our open exhibitions, an artist member may apply for Signature Member jurying. This jurying process is conducted several times during the year. The selection is performed by a non-Guild member qualified juror. The juror evaluates ~4 works of original art by the applying artist. Those whose work is deemed to be of the professional caliber required by the Guild will be elevated to Signature Member status. Those who are not elevated their first time through, of which there are many, may try again at the next jurying session. We do not reuse the same juror within an 18 month period of time.
Those artists elevated to Signature Membership status are eligible to participate in our Images Gallery and other Signature level venues. Participation in the Images Gallery has additional requirements, including participation in the rent payments and staffing the gallery. These details are included in the welcome package.
Entry forms available on this website clearly indicate which venues are open to all Guild members and which require Signature status to enter. All guild venues, with the exception of the Mizner Park Art Walk, require an entry fee, are juried exhibitions of original art and require a percentage of sales commission to support the Museum of Art.
