I am totally in love with the twenties and the artists that lived then, including Picasso and Tamara de Lempicka.  F. Scott Fitzgerald is my all time favorite author.

I spent all of my childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland, and in the winter reading was my passion, along with painting.  The two just naturally co-exist with one another to me and in my paintings, I always have a story to tell.  That's what is so great about illustration.  It's figuring out a way to tell a great story in a simple and dramatic, visual way.  Recently, I was also juried into the Boca Raton Museum Artists' Guild and into the current gallery show, with two of my oil paintings.  That was very cool.

"Over the past 3 years, I have become an enthusiastic collector of Cherie Bender's Oil Paintings, Pastels and Pencil drawings.  Cherie's commitment to excellence and perfection of her work is ongoing and the result has been a remarkable evolution of her portfolio that marks the greatness of her commitment to excellence.  Based on a strong connection to and study of the great masters, Cherie's imagination combined with excellent technique make her one of the foremost artists of modern times.  Cherie Bender is destined to be remembered for her unique connection to the universe and ability to break new ground with every piece she creates.  Cherie Bender will be known as one of the finest artists to emerge in the new Millennium."

"Cherie Bender is an exceptionally talented artist whose illustrations exude the richness of a fine art painting.  Her colors are lush, her style evocative, her ideas inventive.  Her work expresses a commitment to beauty.  As art director for two magazines, I have worked with her for almost 10 years.  She has never let me down."
