My passion for figurative sculpture is based on my visual perception that all women are poetically
beautiful in form and movement. The woman's figure and her facial expressions are moving poetic instances
in time that I capture in my sculpture and present to my audience. This passion drives me in every piece
that I create whether it is from a live model or conceived from my imagination. I want my work to speak
'a thousand words' from that captured instant in time.
Until 2002 I had never taken an art course, nor had I done any form of art for pleasure. It was in 2002
when a dear friend noticed I was bored and recommended that I try an art course at the Armory Art Center
in West Palm Beach. Taking her advice I enrolled in a lost wax and bronze casting course to learn the
technique of bronze sculpture. The process was fascinating and I found that I had a natural talent for
sculpting. In 2003 I enrolled in my first figurative sculpting class and found my true passion.
My entire career has been in business until my retirement in 1999 and the only thing I had ever
'drawn' was a check. I was educated as a CPA and later on became the president and CEO of a mid-sized
international importing firm. As a sculptor I discovered the power of creativity. My life was
transformed by this power and when my work has sold the reward of seeing the purchaser's expression has
only added to my need to continue creating beautiful and gracefully 'poetic women'.
