PERSONAL STATEMENT:
I have been painting since a very young age, exploring many mediums including pencil, tempera, pen &
ink/brush & ink, casein, watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic.
I devote most of my painting time to doing a series entitled "Portraits of Disappearing Houses of
the South." I was taken by the beauty of slowly aging wooden structures, the texture and color
of tin roofs, weather-beaten clapboard siding and crumbling red brick walls. I feel that these old
structures will soon be gone forever, and I fear, forgotten. I want to preserve these images. I am
inspired by structures that once held life, love, and no doubt, hardship, within their crude walls. It is
my hope that my love for these images will capture an audience of kindred spirits that will feel the warmth,
the love, and yes, the hardship, and the beauty of what once was.
