I am a modern feminine artist, although I am totally in love with the turn of the century through the thirties, and the artists that lived then, including and especially, Picasso, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Tamara de Lempicka, Georgia O'Keeffe and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I have attended Art Center, in Pasadena and I am a University of Miami graduate.
I spent all of my childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland, and in the cold winters by the fire, painting was my passion, along with reading and eclectic music. These art forms naturally co-exist with one another to me, and in my paintings and in my illustrations, I generally have a story to tell... My most recent fine art paintings employ figurative and abstraction, with decorative panels. I enjoy the push-pull feeling this gives the finished piece.Presently, I work with oils, but I can envision using different materials for the panels, such as fabric, wood , blown glass, metal......My painting "September 11 and The Healing Flowers" was shown in the Boca Museum Artist Guild Biennial of 2006; and both "Uber Femme (when I was sixteen...)" and "Crown Of Thorns" were short listed for the All Florida Shows of 2007 and 2008 respectively. Most recently, I am featured in ART IN AMERICA magazine for the March, 2009 issue, showcasing the paintings "My Father At Work In His Paisley Tie" and "Uber Femme (when I was Sixteen)
I am committed to excellence as an artist and to expressing my ideas in a joyful and soulful, sometimes shocking way. Hopefully, and above all, I want to communicate my fundamental faith in God, in humankind, and in the celebration of life.
